Rahel Klein
Hi there,
I’m Rahel – but in my surf bubble, pretty much everyone just calls me “Ray.” I live in Bonn, I’m a journalist, and I mostly work in radio and podcasting. And when I’m not behind a microphone, I try to spend as much time by the sea as possible.
I honestly don’t think I can switch off anywhere as quickly as I can there. When I’m in the water, surfing, I forget everything around me – and my next deadline suddenly feels very far away.
Besides surfing, I absolutely love cooking and baking! I’m always up for trying out new recipes and inviting friends over for dinner. That’s also why I regularly join NOMB Changes trips as the camp cook!
During our Trancalmate trip for women* with or after breast cancer, I get to spend a whole week cooking and baking for the group. And so far, everyone has loved my mum’s cinnamon roll recipe!
I’m happy to be part of the NOMB Changes family – and I hope it keeps growing and growing. I’ll definitely do my part to help make NOMB Changes more visible.
And if you ever feel like tasting a fresh cinnamon roll – come visit us at one of our events!
See you soon! Ray

Fun facts about Ray
Describe yourself in a song:
The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down, but
No, I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments, that
I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I gotta be strong
Just keep pushing on, ’cause
There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb.
„The Climb“ – Miley Cyrus
If NOMB Changes were a superheroine, what supernatural abilities would she have and how would she change the world? NOMB Changes would be a glowing neon-colored super-octopus! With tentacles that each have their own magical powers – all of them helping people in different ways!
What do you bring to NOMB Changes? Creativity, openness, food, good vibes, and a big wish to make NOMB Changes even more well-known. So that many more of us can become NOMB Changers!
What annoys you about surfing? When surfers think they’re the “coolest,” and when surfing is seen only as a lifestyle — excluding people who supposedly don’t fit in.
Why do you surf? For one, because I love boards and water. And I simply love the ocean. But most of all because surfing is something I’m (still) not really good at – and yet I absolutely love doing it. That’s something really special for me. It reminds me that, for me, surfing isn’t primarily about performance – it’s about having fun, feeling connected to the ocean, and being able to share the experience with others!
What’s the best moment for you when surfing? Being in the water with good friends, having fun, and supporting each other.
