Weekly Surf Sessions for Women 50+ on Fuerteventura. Based in the north of Fuerteventura, the Las Doradas Surf Club invites women aged 50 and above to experience surfing in a relaxed, supportive, and empowering way — no previous experience needed.
The name Las Doradas carries a double meaning: in Spanish, “doradas” translates to “goldies”, a word often used lovingly in English for vibrant, active older women. At the same time, una dorada is also a local golden sea bream, a fish found in the waters around Fuerteventura. The name celebrates both — the strength and beauty of women embracing new experiences, and the island’s deep connection to the ocean.
Coordinated by NOMB Changes and coached by co-founder and qualified surf coach Angie, the project continues the spirit of our Goldies Surf Gang on Fuerteventura’s volcanic shores.

How It Works
The Las Doradas Surf Club meets every week at accessible beaches in northern Fuerteventura. Session dates and meeting points are shared in a WhatsApp group, so members can easily join whenever it fits their schedules.
There’s no minimum level or experience required — just a positive attitude and curiosity for the ocean. Each session runs with a minimum of one participant, ensuring that every woman who wants to surf gets the chance.
Depending on ocean conditions, our weekly activities vary:
- When the waves are gentle, we surf.
- When the ocean rests or roars, we adapt — with paddle sessions, surf theory, mobility and balance training, visits to a local surfboard workshop, the list is endless.
No matter the activity, the focus stays on movement, connection, and confidence. The ocean is always our playground, and surfing is the heart of everything we do.
Who’s Behind Las Doradas?
The Las Doradas Surf Club is organised by us, a Fuerteventura local non-profit that uses surfing as a tool for empowerment, connection, and positive change.
Surf sessions are organized and coached by Angie Ringleb, co-founder of NOMB Changes and Head Surf Coach at NOMB Surf. With years of experience teaching surfers of all abilities, Angie brings a fun, encouraging energy to the water — helping every woman feel safe, supported, and confident.
When needed, other qualified surf coaches will join the sessions to ensure that each Dorada receives the individual attention and guidance she deserves.
Why it matters
For many women on Fuerteventura, the ocean has always been there: powerful, ever-changing, and sometimes intimidating. But even for those who have lived on the island all their lives, the sea can feel distant or even unsafe. Las Doradas Surf Club offers a way to change that relationship: to get to know the ocean, understand its rhythm, and feel at home in it.
Surfing strengthens both body and mind. It improves balance, mobility, and coordination, while also building focus, calm, and confidence. Each session helps women discover new physical abilities and inner strength — skills that reach far beyond the shoreline.
Our vision is that through shared experiences in the water, fear transforms into healthy respect, and generates pure joy. Learning to move with the ocean continues a tradition deeply woven into island life — one shaped by fishing, tides, and respect for the sea.
All sessions are free of charge, keeping participation open to all women 50+ living on Fuerteventura.
